Gift of the year

Nothing to be grumpy aboutNothing to be grumpy about!

Having been awarded ‘Highly Commended’ as runner-up in the Giftware Association’s GIFT OF THE YEAR for 2010, Splimple’s ishey card range has now been nominated as a finalist in the prestigious HENRIES.

Over 14,000 cards were entered into this year’s HENRIES and these were judged by a panel made up of 30 top retailers (including buyers from John Lewis, WHSmith, Jarrold, Paperchase, Scribbler, Asda, Hoopers, as well as many top independents).  ishey is a finalist in the Words and Sentiment category.  GIFT OF THE YEAR awards are only given to the latest most original and innovatively designed products - and entrants also have to demonstrate that the product is commercially viable.

Splimple has seen strong orders since releasing the range in April - and is set to launch further ishey products.  “We have recently launched ishey mugs", said Splimple Managing Director Stuart Caldwell, "and we were delighted when they were shortlisted in both the 'Kitchen and Dining’ and ‘Luxury and Premium’ Gifts' categories of GIFT OF THE YEAR – but then to have the concept recognised as one of the top three gift-shop oriented card ranges in the UK is really pleasing.  Now being a finalist in the HENRIES is the icing on the cake.”

Splimple already has ishey coasters and table mats in production - and the concept will be extended further in the winter - with ishey Christmas cards coming soon. A second new mug range from Splimple - ManPots was also shortlisted for GIFT OF THE YEAR in conjunction with Jersey Pottery, with whom they work on the creation and development of their ceramics. The company’s Clear as Mud range – the first greetings card range to be endorsed by Plain English Campaign was also shortlisted in the Cards and Wrap section.
